Quitting smoking

A different approach
There are many myths surrounding smoking, one of which is that it takes enormous 'will-power', or some secret known only to a lucky few, to resist the cravings that result from trying to quit. The truth is that it really doesn't have to be that hard - 'will-power' can actually make it harder. And the 'secret' is that, once you begin to understand the self-defeating cycle that keeps you doing it, the inner voice that persuaded you that another cigarette was irresistible will finally - and naturally - lose the power it once had over you.

Over the years, and through studying the results from many clients (my own and those of other therapists who use different strategies), I have learned that the easiest and most successful way to quit smoking is by dealing with it on two levels - conscious and subconscious. The subconscious level is, of course, accessed in hypnosis. Conscious understanding, though, is very important too - we all find it easier to change something once we understand what it is all about, and the reasons why it was not the way we wanted it in the first place. And on any journey we find it easier to commit ourselves to it when we can actually see not only how the road we have chosen leads to where we want to go, but also why the old one was leading us in the wrong direction.

This approach has enabled me to refine my stop-smoking therapy treatment in the light of experience and new discoveries, and has led to an excellent success-rate, as evidenced by the number of clients who come to me on personal recommendation. These include clients from as far afield as Kent, west London and Suffolk, who come to my present practice in Braintree, Essex.

Hypnotherapy has been proven to be a very effective, perhaps the most effective, way to quit smoking for good. It is safe, without 'props' such as patches or gum, using instead the natural power that you already possess. What could possibly be more effective than using the same inner motivating power that has driven every single thing you have ever achieved in your life? Together with the cognitive techniques used in this session, it produces a winning combination, reinforcing subconscious empowerment with conscious insight and understanding.

The stop-smoking session
The session lasts nearly two hours, and consists of three main parts:

The first part involves a brief history of your smoking, including any previous attempts to stop that you have made. and your reasons for wanting to quit.

Next, based on this, is an exploration of what it all means - the real reasons why you smoke and find it hard to stop. A thorough understanding of the answer to the maddening question, 'why do I keep giving in when I know I want to quit?', is often overlooked, but can have an enormous impact on your success. This is dealt with thoroughly, providing the 'aha', the insight that is one of the vital ingredients that make achieving anything much easier.

Finally, the hypnosis, which, rather than the common 'one size fits all' approach, is tailored specially to you, based on what we have found in the session so far. It includes your special reasons for quitting, and any anxieties you might have, such as putting on weight afterwards, as well as powerful suggestions that act personally for you at very deep levels of your mind.

You have what it takes.
It doesn't matter how many times you have tried before - if you really want to quit smoking for good, you can. The feeling that you can't cope without a cigarette is misleading, and is what has kept you a slave to smoking for all this time. If you really doubt your ability to cope with life's stresses without a cigarette, just think about the traumatic experience of growng up - and you got through it all without a single one. The stop-smoking session will enable you to reconnect with those inner resources that served you so well then, and are still serving you now in many other areas of your life.
